A marriage of good music with animation that matches up with it perfectly. Coupled with a great dusty orange art palette and brilliant cinematography.

It just all ties together so well and I am SO GLAD its finally done.

there is potential here. while your character has no insane amount of detail (which is perfectly fine) he is recognizable (which is good).

the animation seemed a bit odd. the frame-by-frame parts that were traditionally animated seemed to have much thicker linework than the parts where you just tweened body parts around. There were some places here where you were trying to make your character "swoosh" and stretch and smear to show fast movement, like when he knocked things off the tablet.
I think you could go alot crazier with this sort of thing.
It almost seemed liked you were afraid to take it too far.

But this sort of character is the perfect vehicle for taking it to far. He's a patchwork blob! Have him really FLAIL!

Also good choice in music. Not enough people have been exposed to the rock opera grandeur that is the Trans Siberian Orchestra.

Also, and this pertains to the let-yourself-go-crazy thing i wrote above, this seems like the sort of character that is funnier the more its injured. Like a Wile E Coyote but much cuter.

Hot sauce in eyedrops, while a cute concept is a bit nonsensical if only because there FAR WORSE and FAW MORE HAZARDOUS fluids that can be mistaken for eyedrops.

Hell, there are drinking games devoted to squirting hot sauce in one's eye!

splitting the screen into 3 sections with 1 be-anything prop in the middle that the characters may or may not choose to interact with

i seriously have not seen anything like this done with flash in terms of fracturing visuals to tell a story

i'm sure this review will be deleted, but I just wanna say I think its in rather poor taste to half-ass a newgrounds tribute. which you pretty much admitted you did.
people will lap this up anyway, but c'mon man. its a TRIBUTE
care a little.

also you dont need to use motion-tweens for every tiny motion a character makes. the reason khale, freetown, and throwback move the way they do is because the artists behind them are trying to make the characters seem ALIVE by thinking about how they move and why they move and how to make them move. its about thinking about forms, and weight.

not just slinging a bunch of symbols together, moving the pivot points, and rotating them all over the place.

theres a reason the better animated series on this site dont use the pencil tool.

because its UGLY.

the only person i know who can make the pencil tool look nice is Luis. Go watch his pico cartoon. its magical. other than that though it looks bad in the hands of everyone else who uses it.
it just screams "I AM A ICKY DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION FFFFFF"

Cute.

I like that, as opposed to trying to get voice actors to attempt to imitate the cast of the game, you instead used actual sounds from the game.
Which is a good idea. I doubt there's too many people online who can do a voice as deep and russian as the Heavy.

Also the whole theme felt like a real "Meet The" with the whole pseudo-interview mixed with scenes of a character doing their thing inter-spliced. Although honestly this is nowhere near good enough for you to need to stick "This ISNT THE REAL ONE GUYS" which is dumb to see there.

Noone is gonna think Valve made this. I mean its 2d for christs sake.

Whoever you got doing the Spy's voice did a good job. The spy doesnt have alot of lines in the game, BUT the voice you chose for the Spy in this, does indeed sound like the character.

So with these factors alone, the characterization and humor in this elevates it above your typical crappy newgrounds video game parody.

The animation in this is rather inconsistent.
It jumps from being funny caricatures of the characters with somewhat sloppy tweened animation (the scene with the sandvich, the scene with the pyro), and then flies into the other end of the spectrum where the animation was more traditional but alot jerkier and alot funnier (the demoman getting stabbed in the neck, the scout running away, etc).
Also, the spy doesnt look much like the spy. With the other characters you managed to capture their faces pretty well. But the spy has a huge nose. Where was his nose man?
