Bill Murray Apocalypse

"my god"

date: December 13, 2007

If only poor Bill Murray himself were still alive to see this. He would shed a tear no doubt. A tear made of the glee and laughter he so unselfishly gave to America in his long and arduous career.
Oh Bill. Oh Billy Bill.
Oh Billy Bill Billiam Billed Bill Bill.

I have no clue what I just watched. But it made me rather moist. Rather moist indeed.

It featured four studdly men bellowing music in another language. I know not what language it was and for all intents and purposes will assume it was from the moon.

Candy Hole #1

This cartoon seems almost satirical in a way. As if it's poking fun and the ooey gooey happy cartoons of the early 90's that were all about teaching "lessons" to kids with moral messages all over the place.

Except in this case, the cartoons have been posessed by Satan.

The thing that really made this funny was the timing. Just the right holds and poses and sounds adding to the whole experience. Quite snort inducing indeed.

I don't even want to know where the bitmaps for their teeth came from.

Super MarioWars (Trailer)

"Please."

date: December 11, 2007

If you feel you must make a sprite cartoon, at least put in some effort and give it a backround.

Staring at two colorful pixxelated blobs whaking each other with shoddily edited lightsabers is hard enough. It's harder when they are on a bland black backround.

If this is only a trailer, I cant say I'm looking forward to the final product too much.
Why not surprise everyone and make it hand-drawn instead of sprites?

I have only taken tutorials in Sprites so far. I am not going to waste that.

the Musical Evenizer

"brilliance."

date: December 5, 2007

The whole "music IS the gameplay" thing is not used enough in games.
Aplitude, DDR, Guitar Hero, Frequency, Musical Lantern. There's so few despite the fact that these sort of games are so addicting and engaging. Its fun to play to music, just like how cartoons are more fun when synced to music.

So I'm playing this and having a good ol fun time, and I notice a review where a guy talked about uploading music to this thing and how great it was and I'm like "wha?"

How on earth? I assume the mp3's are temporarily stored on a server somewhere or something. Either way its a clever little addition that really gives this replay value coming out the wazoo.
The graphics in this arent great, but you drew them, you didnt trace them, or use sprites.

I started off by putting in "Supernova" by Dragonland which sent all the block smashing against the ceiling since its such a loud song. Same goes with Craig Armstrong's epic "Escape" music.
Afterwards I stuck in some A[hex Twin, which, as expected made the blocks fly up and down in the most bizarre ways imaginable.
I then tried a few tracks from the Super Mario movie soundtrack, the Baron Munchausen soundtrack. Some Ween, some Smash Mouth.

It really is very addicting.
It'd be neat if there were other modes of gamplay, like shooting down rockets that fly out of a bunker in tune to the music using a crossair or something along those lines. Or hell, a whole sidescrolling adventure game where the world and enemies are carved out by whatever track of music happens to be playing.

Either way, this is the most creative flash game I've seen in a while. Good show, I gave it a hearty 5.

Biosock

"sigh."

submission: Biosock
date: December 5, 2007

I try very hard these days NOT to write bad reviews on things, but I feel I really have to in this instance, seeing as I love Bioshock and all the reviews on this are so hilariously overscored due to fanboys.

First, it's great that you played Bioshock. It's bad that you made this parody. It's also bad that alot of the graphics in this are traced. Every bioshock flash made since the game was released have all traced the same Big Daddy concept art that is readily available on the game's official site.

I cant understand WHY people trace these. It doesnt make the drawings any more realistic. And honestly, I'd much rather see someone's own art style forming an interpretation of a Big Daddy instead of the same bland traced flash drawings used in every Bioshock flash ever.
So I'm just going to assume you have no artistic integrity as your Big Daddy accused. I guess you cant animate either as all the characters were bad pencil-tool drawings whose 2-3 body parts were paintfully tweened around with motion tweens. Hardly animation and painful to look at.
The backrounds were traced bitmaps.

You also forgot to tell any jokes in this. But I'm quite certain this wasnt meant to be a comedy because nothing funny happened in it. Just characters gabbling stuff at each other.
Pointing out the obvious isnt funny. "you're supposed to be looking for a little sister" Oh I GET IT! He's not doing his job. What an absolute barrel of laughs. :/
Oh and you stuck the Charlie the Unicorn characters in this. Oh that's trendy. As opposed to poking fun at the situations in the game, instead you referenced a popular flash in order to get something people recognized into the cartoon to ensure they would vote 5. Well how very clever. You ripped the Unicorns straight from the flash, too. Didnt even bother to trace them.

Too much work I guess, to draw simple a unicorn.

Ironically, the chap who made "Charlie the Unicorn" and "The Last Unicorn" and "Spatula Madness" was once part of a group devoted to making good animated original films. I'm sure he'd be very proud to see his characters in this thing that represents all thats wrong with parodies these days.

Oh Atlus rapes the Little Sister. Man, you sure are edgy. EDGY IN YOUR FACE TO THE X-TREME.

Also, you may or may not have any friends, but its never a good idea to do all the voices yourself. Especially if you can only do one voice. Each character sounded the same. Like a bad Cheech Marin impression. Had the dead raped little sister spoke, I'm sure she'd have sounded just like everyone else.
Actually, that would have made this funny.

Wasted potential really. I would have given this a zero but then that abused M-Bot thing would delete this review.

Either way, if you decide to try something like this in the future, don't. Just don't.
And now, to return to writing good reviews for good cartoons again.

December 5, 2007

Author's Response:

Reviews are supposed to be helpful and nice, not rude and slanderous. 4 different voice actors I found did the voices and yes I copied the unicorns so that way they would look exactly right.

IT'S A PARODY IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ORIGINAL!!! IT'S A DEVIATION OF SOMETHING EVERBODY ALREADY KNOWS!! SO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.

I'M A MAN I'M 40!! DON'T PICK ON A KID WHO'S DONE EVERYTHING RIGHT!!!
