wall e

Posted by ZekeySpaceyLizard Jun. 27, 2008 @ 8:26 AM EDT

i got to go to a midnight showing of this film last night

pixar's weirdest and most creative film i'd say
really unconventional and painfully cute

its a love story between two robots. its also odd cause they use some live-action in it as well.
it felt like something Kubrik would have made
really great technological designs and animation throughout

i highly recommend seeing it. (good date movie)
one of pixar's best
also there was a badass short in front of it called Presto that was hyper and hilarious and very loony-toons esque. it also reminded me of a recent popular pc game

I've been planning on seeing this. With your recommendation, it's a certainty.

I've wanted to see it since I saw the preview.

Now it's certain.

Jun. 28, 2008 | 7:48 PM Jeinu says:

that film was amazing is every aspect possible.

i'm amazed that it even got made. i mean, imagine the pitch for this thing: ok it's a story about two robots. neither of them really talk and they don't really have faces. and there's no real dialogue for the first half of the movie. also the sidekick is a pet cockroach. uh, no, he doesn't sing. or dance. yeah.

but pixar knew what they were doing. great movie.

aww man i wanna see itsobad

I Remember This Back in the 80's or something they had some Walle movies but it had real people in it and now pixar is just taking an old franchise and brining it back to life in the form of cartoon animation

Jun. 29, 2008 | 3:30 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

oh for the love of

WALL-E AND THE 80's SHORT CIRCUIT MOVIES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER.

YOU ARE A RETARD.

BANNED.

Jun. 30, 2008 | 3:36 AM supyohos123 says:

Pixar seems to be having crazy ideas as of late. I wish Disney didn't say they weren't going to do traditional animation anymore. Saves trees I guess!

"C'mon Don, make that Dragon's Lair movie before you die."

They always get that guy who played Cliff on Cheers to voice act.

Jul. 1, 2008 | 6:56 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

disney is making a new 2d movie as we speak, dude
they are making traditional animation again
it just isnt done yet

Jun. 30, 2008 | 11:15 AM JonBro says:

Wall-E is pretty much the best movie of all time. I saw it when it was shown at midnight at my local theater and I'm going to see it again today. The robots show more expression than in any movie I've ever seen, and they don't even really talk. It was weird how live-action was mixed in with the animation in a few points, but somehow it seemed to fit in very well... And, as you mentioned, it was "painfully cute."

That short film before it was brilliant, too. Very Looney-Toony. You mentioned a computer game... Is it "Portal?" =)

Jul. 1, 2008 | 6:57 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

the lie is a cake

Jun. 30, 2008 | 11:18 AM JonBro says:

I feel like saying this for some reason, too:

Disney isn't good anymore, but Pixar is going strong. I don't know why people still consider Disney and Pixar to be the same thing. Pixar would never, ever make something like Beverly Hills Chihuahua. EVER.

Jul. 1, 2008 | 6:58 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

Disney Animation who've made everything from Lion King to Bolt are not the same part of Disney who vomited up the Chihuahua movie

Jun. 30, 2008 | 5:02 PM supyohos123 says:

Jul. 1, 2008 | 9:34 PM supyohos123 says:

A traditional animation? I have been out of the loop for years. It better not have pop culture references in it.

Jul. 2, 2008 | 2:48 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

it takes place in new orleans in the early 1900's, so hopefully not

Is Wall E a weapon in disguise :(

Jul. 2, 2008 | 7:23 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

nope he is perfectly harmless

Jul. 2, 2008 | 4:57 AM willobeen says:

that was probably my favorite pixar movie to date.

Jul. 3, 2008 | 2:30 AM Sparkpro says:

Perfectly harmless?
Are you mad? Did you not see the laser he had?
And those tracks, a nearly infinite amount of foreign contaminate on them.
FOREIGN CONTAMINATE EVERYWHERE.

Jul. 3, 2008 | 4:52 AM GameSlave says:

I intend to see this

Jul. 4, 2008 | 3:40 AM The-Swain says:

Ok I saw it and it was awesome. I am very surprised, but I think the lack of dialogue challenged them...nay, FORCED them to give the characters new ways of expressing themselves.

Jul. 4, 2008 | 4:35 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

well of course!
i am gonna see it with my father tommorow for july 4th

Jul. 4, 2008 | 7:41 PM TheBoogley says:

I went too far in my response to your review... gushed all over your nice new pair of shoes... sorry about that. wall-e doesn't come out in Australia until September, I may be forced to take the law into my own hands before then. We're a convict nation, so people kind of understand.

Jul. 4, 2008 | 9:37 PM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

my friend gerkinman who lives near there (new zealand i think?) also has been waiting tentatively for it.
i dont know why they dont just release it everywhere at once
why can they release it in the UK or australia at the same time? we all speak english. its not like they have to localize it.

like how the UK just got the new smash brothers game, and the US has had it for like a year now. why? what was nintendo waiting for? aahhasjdjasdjf

Jul. 5, 2008 | 8:28 AM Lambinvoker says:

Just watched it the night before last with my girl friend. I was highly impressed. As sappy as it may sound, I was moved to tears during the more cuter moments. Although she didn't want to see it at first, considering it as a kid's movie, by the end of the movie she said how she loved every minute of it and wouldn't stop calling me "Eeeebaa".

Jul. 6, 2008 | 1:52 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

honestly i think wall-e has been marketed wrong
its very innocent but its definitely a film small children arent going to understand

Jul. 5, 2008 | 5:13 PM Golden-Fox says:

Yeah, I saw that movie a few days ago. Really neat detail. I felt bad for Mo, cleaning all the tracks of dirt that Wall E left in the Axiom. "Foreign Contaminant"

Also, me, and a friend of mine laughed our asses off when we saw Presto. I guess that's what happens when the rabbit doesn't get his "Trix".

Jul. 6, 2008 | 1:52 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

MO is my fave character

Jul. 5, 2008 | 6:02 PM lenkobiscuit says:

Serious contender for best robot movie, number one is Iron Giant obviously.

I've yet to see it cos it isnt out in teadrinkland yet. One of my friends seems really interested in it though so I guess i'll hitch a ride with her

Fuck pirating, this is one thing I'm definitely gonna have to see at the cinema

On a side note have you seen Kung Fu Panda? Its surprisingly alright and has this kickass 2D opening segment. jawsome

Jul. 6, 2008 | 1:51 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

i've seen kung fu panda a few times now actually
its really funny and heartwarming

and dustin hoffman is a surprisingly great voice actor

Jul. 7, 2008 | 5:33 AM homor says:

hes the cutest fucking robot ever.

Jul. 9, 2008 | 2:15 AM GunBooster says:

Wall-E was a lot like Marche from FFTA.

"But, we want to stay on the ship."
"FUCK THAT, YOU'RE GOIN' HOME!!"

I enjoyed this movie immensely.

Also, yes, Presto="Portal: The Short Film"
