Great Cartoons part5

Posted by ZekeySpaceyLizard May. 18, 2008 @ 1:38 AM EDT

hum dee dum doo dee doo
here we are again

Alright the first thing I am going to post is a new music video that has emerged onto the internet. It's only like 5 days old. But oh god I love it so much already. Its so cute and great and well designed and blarhgohohohohhooooodfgfgg

.

This next thing is a puppet and not really a cartoon but it is responsible for MANY a sleepless night lately.
Turn off all the lights and watch it:

.

Eddie Fitzgerald made this short for the WHAT A CARTOON show a long time ago.
Not only is it very VERY well animated but its also amazingly deranged and has a sick sense of humor.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT? YOU FIIIIILTHY CHILDREN!?!!?!

.

And here is BOID N WOIM, another WHAT A CARTOON I loved. And it's completely opposite in style and humor to the previous worm toon. I really love the very simple backrounds in this.

.

The Cat came Back. Chances are you've seen this as it's become a bit of a cult classic. Good old canadian animation from the 80's. Cordell Barker made this.

.

Richard Condie made this. The Big Snit.
Chances are you've also seen this. Both of these used to get shown on Cartoon Network on a show called O' Canada.
I really wish the sawing tv channel existed.

.

One of the cartoon network groovies. "Rollin" featuring clips from Betty Boop.
It'd be neat to see a black and white cartoon show get made in this day and age but I doubt it will ever happen.

.

BALLOON LAND
This full color cartoon is trippy as hell. And action packed. My parents actually recorded this on VHS for me years ago. All the scenes are mesmerizing. So much is going on at once.

.

Little Black Sambo
Only posting this because old-school racism amuses me to no end.

.

This next cartoon is a special one. This cartoon took 10 years to complete. The animator of this cartoon was blind and deaf and mute. But one day God came to him and said "Thou shalt see. Thou shalt hear. Thou shalt speaketh sounds. And thou shalt maketh this cartoon. I shit thee not. Make it or I shall smite you good."
And the animator complied. This cartoon won a total of 15 oscars, a record that has yet to be broken.
This cartoon has been shown to lower blood pressure, boost fertility, and slow aging. It has also been reported to cure cancer.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I hope you all enjoy

'dancing turtle'

.

The Tell Tale Heart is one of those stories that been retold a bazillion gazillion times. Poe was a fucked up chap.
I've always been fond of this one. (UPA)

.

Jojo in the Stars
I actually have this on DVD. Figures it'd be on youtube illegally. Jojo is made by Marc Craste, from Studio AKA
He makes all sorts of crazy little cartoons. He's great. This cartoon is a mini movie and the finale of his PICAS TOWERS series on Studio AKA's website. Studio AKA have made, literally, hundreds of amazingly creative commercials and short films. They are my favorite indy studio.

.

And to finish this post, a couple of Mickey Cartoons I have always liked.
Boat Builders

.

Runaway Brain

.

i think that's enough for this week.

I loove cartoons! I seen a lot of these already except for the Mickey Mouse shorts. They were never on tv like Bugs Bunny and the gang were.

Another cool animation you're missing is the one off my last post.
I'm saying that cause my post is forever lost if not on the latest blogs listing and if I don't mention y'all might not see this fantastic piece of art.

May. 18, 2008 | 2:17 AM Dazmi says:

Mickey Mouse cartoon's are kinda weird.
I not used to seeing addiction, or something like that played out in a realistic, sometimes exaggerated way on a kids show.

I guess that's what makes them cool.

May. 18, 2008 | 3:13 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

yep you cant make things like this on tv anymore

May. 18, 2008 | 2:46 AM ShirtTurtle says:

Worm paranoia and boid and worm and those canadian cartoons.

May. 18, 2008 | 2:56 AM ShirtTurtle says:

also, wtf.

May. 18, 2008 | 12:16 PM Luis says:

good stuff. i never realized how 'musical' disney cartoons could be.. was watching that boat builders one and its like carried purely by the soundtrack. i've always found that a more sophisticated way of aiding a story

May. 18, 2008 | 6:30 PM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

thats why most of my own cartoons move to music. i just think its great when cartoons move to a soundtrack.

May. 18, 2008 | 1:32 PM DarkShadow8181 says:

i probably do the same thing you do, look up and watch cartoons every once in a while. 30s and 40s cartoons win against todays cartoons by a longshot

hey now. "Kappa Mikey" is a fine sh...sho....i cant finish the sentence it hurts too much.

i know a guy that worked on that show. i never had the heart to tell him i wished for his death.

May. 20, 2008 | 1:07 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

it seems like most of the people who work on that show hate working on it
cant say i'm surprised

May. 20, 2008 | 4:01 AM homor says:

kappa mikey is a show i've never watched a full episode of.

its like i'm embarrested to watch it, even when i'm alone.

May. 20, 2008 | 7:01 PM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

you're not alone

May. 20, 2008 | 11:54 AM THEJamoke says:

I go away for a month and suddenly everyone's embedding vids. At least one person is making the most of the feature.

The Cat Came Back - holy hell, I haven't seen that in over a decade. I almost forgot it existed.

Disney Toons - these are what I cut my teeth on. If only I could find the hidden trove of VHS stashed somewhere in my parents' house of all the ones I loved as a kid.

Little Black Sambo - magnifique. Back when racism was racism. I love it.

I wish 98% of all cartoons didn't suck ass now-a-days. I make my kid watch Tom and Jerry and Popeye with me every day to remind the both of us that old school random acts of violence are still acceptable.

May. 20, 2008 | 7:03 PM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

I find it funny that back when Cartoon Network still showed Loony Toons, it had a "TV-Y7" rating. Meanwhile Tom n Jerry had a TV=Y rating.

And lets be honest, Tom and Jerry is soooo much more violent than Loony Toons have ever been. What is up with that.

May. 20, 2008 | 5:45 PM Sinitron says:

lmao holy shiiiiit i remember the worm paranoia and boid n woim cartoons from like the mid-90s or whenever they were aired those were greattt

May. 20, 2008 | 7:04 PM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

I just watched We are the strange.......(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jlD7E VSJFw&feature=PlayList&p=1BD1 0C7B6DA3385E&index=16)

Whats your opinion on it?

May. 21, 2008 | 3:38 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

its visually cool
Mdotstrange is certainly a creative chap.

Although I fear there might be a bit too much "weird for the sake of being weird" in his stuff. I dont mind that sort of thing, since I'm a David Lynch fan, but it aggravates most people.

May. 20, 2008 | 11:29 PM Sparkpro says:

I think I remember seeing runaway brain in theaters before they showed the main attraction...no wait it was a preview for it and I saw it on TV... I think...

Anyway I love that sound that Mr Worm makes in Boid n Woim.

and I have a confession to make, I kinda like to watch Kappa Mikey sometimes.

May. 21, 2008 | 3:38 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

you poor man

May. 20, 2008 | 11:40 PM Nicol3 says:

WHAT A CARTOON was effing boss. They had the most kickass cartoons EVER.

Boid n' Worm was the one that made me start practicing with drawing when I was 6!

May. 21, 2008 | 3:38 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

:D!!!!!

May. 21, 2008 | 9:25 PM Wholyish says:

speaking of tom and jerry (since you people seem to be), thank god for comcast's free on demand from cartoon netwok... i found a ton of tom and jerry cartoons on there, in nice little 25-30 minutes packages. FOR FREE!!!
and i watched kappa mikey once... retarded doing the characters in mostly anime, and then like one normal, american one...

May. 22, 2008 | 12:00 AM MisterDielectric says:

I only watched Eddie Fitzgerald's cartoon, and damn, just pure eye candy. The animation is almost perfect. Makes me jealous because I know i'll never in a million years be able to do that.

"CAN'T YOU SEE MY SOUL IS ON FIIIRE!!!?"

They need to bring back the fucked up and weird cartoons back to cartoon network. What the hell happened to cartoons nowadays? They have to be politically correct and not upset the fat, spoiled, overly-protected, american 11 year olds.

May. 22, 2008 | 5:33 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

its not the kids who are complaining. its the soccer moms and religious groups.
aka: the people who somehow have power

May. 22, 2008 | 8:24 PM krazykoser says:

Wasn't Eddie Fitzgerald involved with Spümcø? It really looks like he was.

May. 23, 2008 | 1:16 AM AlexanderTheInsane says:

Runaway Brain

I remember seeing that when it came out as a double feature. Too bad we don't see any Disney cartoons of that material anymore.

May. 23, 2008 | 4:29 AM supyohos123 says:

What a Cartoon? Those had some great ideas. Not just great but original. I'm just pissed that Cartoon Network didn't choose what I feel was the best direction.

May. 25, 2008 | 1:41 AM PunchOrBePunched says:

My girlfriend just showed Balloonland to me two or three weeks ago, her parents also had recorded it for her as a kid. Odd. Using basic logic, some folks may then concur that you are my girlfriend. They are wrong.

After your first batch of clips I had dug myself up a copy of "Aachi & Ssipak" within three days. Loved it. Thanks.

And yeah, I get what you are saying about We are the Strange, in fact I think that may be the reason I didn't like it too much. Dont get me wrong I like being weird for the sake of being weird but.....I don't know, I just didn't like it.....

May. 26, 2008 | 4:46 AM ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:
