Great Cartoons (and other stuff) part 3

Posted by ZekeySpaceyLizard - May 2nd, 2008

I'll keep doin these until I run out of cool stuff on my youtube faves

How To Cope with Death
I think this is a student animation. I'm not sure. But it has gorgeous detailed 2d animation and a really badass design to it. The old lady and the angel of death are both so unique and fun to look at. And it has an old woman beating up the grim reaper. How cool is that?

The Pearce Sisters
This film was released not long ago. It is a swell combination of 2d and 3d animation and has a very twisted little cast of characters. Aardman studios made this. Same people who make Wallace and Gromit and Creature Comforts. Freaky isnt it?

Fantastic Plastic Machine
Different Colors

Kokiriko Bushi by Far East Recordings

.
/* */
Super Furry Animals (yes thats the band's name) music video for their song, "It's not the end of the world"
A very fun CGI video done to look like it's some sort of tin-and-brass mechanical puppet show. Also contains a rather hamfisted anti-war message. I know hamfisted when I see it (i am an expert at being hamfisted).

.
/* */
Tv On the Radio's video for the song Me-I
Adult Swim used to show a short clip from this during a bump. It's not technically a cartoon but it might as well be!

.
/* */
This next video is like a tech demo of sorts. It combines CGI with real nature footage to make some very neat plants that all have a very undersea feel to them. Very relaxing to watch.

.
/* */
Prelude to Eden.
This is a film by Michel Gagne. He's done a whole wide range of stuff and is one of my most favorite artists. He was one of the main effects animators in Osmosis Jones. He did those crazy colorful blobs that floated around Remy's head in Ratatouille whenever Remy ate something. He's made a few short films and more recently he made a series of ABSOLUTELY AMAZING short films for nickelodeon called the Insanely Twisted Shadow Puppet Show. He also makes comics for the "Flight" comic books which come out about once a year.
This film is lovely and was all drawn by hand:

OH GOD I'M CUMMING AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

How to cope with death sure has a unique style, thanks for that, it made my night.

i really love the crackly sounds the bones made as Death moved around the room

How do you find all this? It's so awesome :o

and i dont wanna live on the moon the moon
and i dont wanna live on the moooooon

Michel Gagne has somemad skills, his Prelude to Eden has some astonishing animation, it was fucking orgasmic. Too bad it ended.

Indeed.
He makes some very cute and lovely comics as well.

Prelude to Eden really is awesome. They had a high quality version of it on Stage 6, but sadly it's gone now...

Gagne himself actually put a HUGE high quality quicktime version of it on his site for like 2 days. I managed to snag a copy. He had to take it down because it killed his bandwidth though.

After seeing all of this, I think I want to be an animator.

BagSteetle

I will continue tuning into your updates, Mr. Lizard.

:D huzzah

wow... where do you keep finding these... love the prelude to eden, didnt know the same guy from osmosis jones worked on ratatouille as well.

and i think there needs to be an automatic message that goes around for when zekey makes animation video posts... well, most people seem to find it anyway.

nah these get around 30-50 comments anyway. thats more than enough for me!

How To Cope With Death and Prelude To Eden were my favorites. The tech-plants thing creeped me out and made me feel sick to my stomach.

rofl i found the plants cute.

Man, you're a judge for the yearly best. That's awesome. There is justice in the world.

Pick something great.

i will pick Mario Farts A Pipe part Deux

Man, that kokiriko bushi is really catchy.

yes it is!

granny kicks ass!!

she is a master at ju jitsu

I had to come back and watch the jabber jaw groovie twice. Fucking AWESOME!Nostalgia.

Different Colors sounded like the song from the Mii channel on the Wii :)

:D
wiiiiiiiiiiii

Thanks. I had forgotten to add Prelude To Eden to my MASSIVE YouTube favourites list, all filled with great animation.

you forgot to add my penis to your MASSIVE funhole too, BUDDY
also dont forget to remind me that i keep forgetting to do Hans comic.

I found that kokiriko bushi interesting. I like the animation of all the different hand movements.

i had a period where all I did was fancy drawings of photorealistic hands
they enthrall me for some reason

You have proven me that the new video embed feature is useful after all.
I´ll quit bitching about it as long as you continue with these "ZekeyFest"´s ocasionally.
Reluctant thankies. Uuuurrgh.

have i mentioned i love your iconic art

How to cope with death is phenomenal... the proportions of death and its wings are cool as fuckkkkkkkkkkkkk

excuse my language pls.

yeah the way the feathers move is godly
so 3d and exaggerated

TO TIE YOU UP IN SAILORS KNOTS.

WHOS GONNA SAVE THE WORLD?

WHOS GONNA SAVE THE DAY?

SOMETHING SOMETHING ERRAY EEL WITH EVIL RAY.

i love that song but i don't understand half the lyrics.

even when it was on tv, the volume faded out at some points
i wonder if the mp3 is anywhere

How to cope with death was very pretty. The fbf in that was amazing... and I did enjoy watching it. Fight scenes are some of my favorite things to watch, animated or othberwise.

Saw the Pearce sisters a while ago. Actually, I think you sent it to me. It's just was wierd the second time.

Different Colors was strange and left me disoriented.

I liked the dancing skeleton, but the music part of that music video was hideous.

It's not the end of the world was very nice. It looked like stopmotion, which was probably the intent, and I really do like how everything flipped out of the way or whatever to switch "scenes."

I didn't watch the bird one cause I didn't like the beginning,

The plants one was lovely. Very nice combination of CGI and real footage... I think it's funny how on youtube the title is "best cgi ever" or something, cause it's definitely not the most realistic. I loved it anyway.

Prelude to eden was fun to watch. I always like little blobby stretchy characters.

A SPECIAL UNDERWATER MIC

if you like blobby stretchy things, remind me to send you Gagne's Twisted Shadow Puppet stuff.
you will have 3 orgasms, a horse, a seizure, and then go into cardiac arrest
